I had no family there

Where did you give birth or where was the birth you witnessed?
Oldham

Can you describe where your/the birth was?

In a hospital. They allowed my 18 month old son in the labour room only because he was sleeping

Who was present at your/the birth?
My husband and toddler

Can you describe the experience of giving birth or watching the birth?
They wanted to induce me before 2 weeks because my girl weighed 7.5lbs already and I had gestational diabetes. This time the pressure was on me because my husband doesn’t speak any English so I have to be there to answer anything. That was the major thing for me. I was in a room but nothing happened; they kept coming in and asking me. My 18 month old was very disturbed, he kept shouting every hour so at 10pm my husband wanted to go so he and my son went home. I felt vey depressed because I had no family there. At 5am I called my husband to come but there’s no transport at this time where we live so I had to call a taxi to say you need to be at this address becaue my husband speaks no English but I was in pain every 1 minute and the driver he could hear it and said don’t worry. My husband came at 7am and they allowed my son in the labour room only because he was sleeping. My girl was born at 8am and my son slept through until 11 so I think I was very blessed. I was so emotional. They told me afterwards that it was all fine. I called my Mum in Pakistan and she was very emotional because she hadn’t been there and we hadn’t told her I was going for induction. Emotionally and mentally you need someone with you in labour, a woman needs that you know.
